Damiani’s 2017 Brut Comes Out on Top

August 2024

Damiani Wine Cellars 2017 Brut Méthode Champenoise took home the honor of Best Sparkling Wine in the 2024 New York Wine Classic. The annual event celebrates a diverse selection of world-class wines from producers within the state. Rated 95 points and deemed “exceptional”  by the Beverage Tasting Institute, the 2017 Brut was born from what Allen says was a “classic vintage.”

Dr. Konstantin Frank Wins Best White

August 2024

It seems fitting that the winery that launched a vinifera revolution in the Finger Lakes and reinvigorated wine lovers’ passion for Riesling snagged Best White for its 2022 Reserve Riesling in this year’s New York Wine Classic.

Weis Vineyards Wins Winery of the Year

July 2024

Weis Vineyards snagged Winery of the Year and the prestigious Governor’s Cup for their 2018 Riesling Ice Wine. Winery of the Year is presented to the winery with the best overall showing based on the level and number of awards received. The Governor’s Cup is the most sought-after award, recognizing the Best of Show across all categories.

Empire State’s CAB FRANC Love Affair

June 2024

Far be it from us to play favorites with grape varieties, but it’s impossible to ignore the Empire State’s emerging star grape, Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Franc is now able to begin to compete with Riesling for star status in the minds of vintners and wine enthusiasts alike.

2023 new york wine classics competition

August 2023

There was a surprising result at the 2023 New York Wine Classic competition when the top white wine was named as a 2022 Gewurztraminer - not a grape that the state is particularly known for unless you’re really into New York wine. The Boundary Breaks 2022 Gewurztraminer is a medium-dry Gewurztraminer, produced by Bruce Murray in Lodi on Seneca Lake.

medals galore for Ny wines at iwsc

May 2023

Eight New York wineries submitted a selection of wines into this year’s IWSC competition for the first time.  Of the 21 wines submitted, 19 of them received a medal, with some strong silver medals awarded. Special shout out to Boundary Breaks whose Ice Wine Riesling 2020 was the only US wine to receive a Gold medal, boasting an impressive 95 points!

The NYWGF team will be at Vinexpo Paris 2023 to showcase a range of wines from the region.  Joining forces with Wines of California and Wines of Oregon, there will be a great range of wines to taste on our stand.  Elaine Chukan Brown will host a NY wines masterclass on Wednesday, 15th February, if you would like to find out more about the region.

LAMOREAUX LANDS IN THE UK

A range of Lamoreaux Landing wines are now available in the UK via Daniel Lambert Wines. The wines from the Finger Lakes based winery that can be found in the UK are: Lamoreaux Landing Gruner Veltliner, Lamoreaux Landing Dry Riesling, Lamoreaux Landing Gewurztraminer and Lamoreaux Landing T23 Cabernet Franc.

HOSMER WINES ARRIVE IN THE UK AT VINEYARD CELLARS

A selection of wines from Finger Lakes winery, Hosmer Estate Winery, are now available in the UK at Vineyard Cellars. Their arrival coincides with Hosmer's Limited Release Riesling 2019 appearing at no.45 in Wine Enthusiast's 100 Wines of 2021.
